I am a very energetic adult Labrador Retriever/American Bulldog mix who loves to play. I am also a fairly short and thick female dog that aims to please her master and loves to sit in your lap. Some of my favorite activities are kicking up, sniffing, rolling in, and crawling through the grass. If I hit the right scent, I will dig a hole leaving only my girlish behind above ground. Having received the name “The Flying Anvil,” I can also jump up to six feet in the air; however, I rarely do so. Sometimes, I may be too energetic, and I might get a little too rowdy around other dogs and may start to wrestle. Overall, I am a sweet and caring dog that loves to be petted and nurtured by everyone. Although I may seem to be happy right now, I am very lonely, and I really need a forever home.

I can jump a 6’ fence.  I can run like the wind.  I do those things to get to my people.  I have energy to spare … would you like someone to run with you? Would you like a dog to train for agility?  I know my people and love my people; in fact, I quiet right down when my folks sit down.  I’m probably more Catahoulah than anything else since I’ll lead folks if they don’t lead me!

You can’t buy dignity and courage and perseverance, but you can share your life with the embodiment of those qualities.  This girl doesn’t care for other dogs as a rule (we’ve found 2 exceptions so far), but she looks you in the eye to see if you’re her person.  If you have lived with such a personality before and wish to pursue that quality of life again, call.  She’s waiting for you

There was a wonderful Morgan horse named UVM Promise.  In his prime, that horse had the dignity and athleticism of a champion – he was one!  Corbin, a.k.a. Promise, has that and more.  This Promise has a piercing stare and canny personality.  His trot snaps and floats across a field.  True to his catahoulah heritage (it’s our best bet, but a pretty solid one we think), Promise has a dominant personality that doesn’t get in his way with play – he loves to run and jump with other dogs.  Although this boy is heartworm positive, Promise already has gained weight, confidence, and manners.  He’s ready to commit to his person and family!

Do you remember Gilligan’s Island?  Like those characters, this girl finds herself marooned.  A stormy life hasn’t broken this girl.  She eagerly anticipates every human contact and conducts herself with dognity.*   She appears to be housebroken and is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots.

Harry is living in boarding and really needs a forever home.  He is a calm, playful dog who enjoy running around in doggie daycare. He has a good energy level, is gentle, and intelligent.  Harry weighs 42 pounds.

I’m the kid who tastes the world!  I love to play in a stream of water (s o m e t i m e s, I get so EXCITED!).  I don’t much bark too much.  I don’t dig at all. I love to chew nylabones.  I … want people!  (Don’t let that juxtaposition put you off…. Look! A squirrel!).

circumstance, Kaine has never lost his optimism or good nature. 
Not all dogs like him and he’s no fool, but he doesn’t pick a fight.
He doesn’t dig or pace. He doesn’t rush his door or jump on people.
He waits for his circumstances to change. 

My best friend in the world, Tara, has been adopted.  What this means for me:  There’s no one to run interference between me and people.  If I want to know what’s going on, I have to get up and look on my own.  Wow, its kind of liberating …in a lonely way.  Dealing with the people isn’t so bad.  I’m thinking of a word for my “best” friend …she got all the petting, scratching, massaging.  Hmmm.  I’m ready to move on now.  I’ve been spayed, wormed, had shots, microchipped.  I’m also heartworm positive, but I’m taking medicine to start to kill them.  I’m ready to move on now.

Wow, couldn’t they take a better picture?  I wanted one with my ears up and my goofy smile.  I guess digital photography isn’t that fast.  I thought they caught one of me standing up alertly; that one blurred … really?  This picture is worth the wrong 1000 words.  I figured, “Shoot, I’m up for adoption might as well get up on a lap.”  Yep, that worked… not so much.  Anyhow, I’m far more handsome and amicable than the picture here.  I love other dogs … what’s better than laying around in the dirt and playing with a friend?  Okkkk, that was rhetorical.  Obviously, having a human friend is ideal.  Another dog in the house would be uber ideal.  So … think about seeing me in person.

Ears and tail up, this alert, intuitive boy watches everything and everyone!  He will howl with a siren, or simply gaze across the lawn.  Rollie loves to straddle his Dogloo dog house for a better vantage point.  He can wiggle through small openings and dig with intent to escape!  Once liberated, he loves to run around hoping to have play time.Rollie gets along with almost all dogs.  Although he loves people, younger children intimidate him.  He will kill rodents and large insects.  Other dogs in his litter possess excellent jumping and climbing skills.  They love indoor living.  Currently living in a foster home

Wanted:  Person(s) to feed, bathe, walk, play and house energetic, yet cautious Dog.  Successful candidate must be independent, secure with his/her ability to understand not everyone wants to be pawed.  Hours 24/7, 365.25. Those who dress dogs in costume need not apply.  Salary – enduring gratitude, firm.

What kind of a name is that…but, I am extremely shy.  I must have not been treated too well at my last home because most people scare me.  I’m more comfortable hiding behind something.  I need a lot of patience and love, but once I gain your trust, I will love you and make a wonderful companion.

I’m a sanctuary dog.  I’m not really sure what that means, but I know these things:  these people care for me.  Not just the necessities, I get bathed and massaged (once I figure out someone isn’t going to hurt me) I let them massage my back every evening – I even stand on my dog house for the massage.  They coo at me.  They see how beautiful I am – I know because they tell me.  When they feel the knotted scars left in my neck from a logging chain they don’t back off and they don’t feel sorry for me – they love me.  I don’t like change.  Change, until now, has never been good for me.  I wanted to tell you my story in case you have sanctuary ….

Blackbeard?  Hardly.  The only treasure this boy wants is a family.  Teach has questions about people and some other dogs.  His wandering days are over as his compass is lost.  Now he’s focused on other things: people.   

I buffaloed these folks.  Yep, I’m shy and careful. But, I know how to love people too.  What’s “feral” anyway?  What’s with all the labeling?  If you’re not into labels, give me a call.

I used to run around my kennel a lot … until I met Dora.  Dora and I are buddies.   With my friend, I’m pretty chill.  I don’t jump fences or dig.  Conversely, I’m not the best on lead (what’s with this tether thing and people anyway?).  I like people, I like dogs (especially, leggy houndettes), I would like to live with a family ….
